What Does a Wedding Celebrant Cost in North Wales?

If you’ve ever tried to Google “how much does a wedding celebrant cost?” you’ll know it’s a bit of a rabbit hole. Prices are all over the place, and it’s hard to know what you’re actually paying for. So let’s clear it up. I’m a Humanist wedding celebrant based in North Wales, and working across Snowdonia, Anglesey, Gwynedd, Denbighshire and Cheshire. Here’s what you need to know about how celebrant pricing really works from a celebrant who's spent years crafting ceremonies - and how to find someone who’s worth every penny.

What Does a Wedding Celebrant in North Wales Cost?

There can be big differences in what celebrants charge for their services, from £500 right up to £1500+ per ceremony. That said, in North Wales and Cheshire, most professional celebrants charge in the region of £600-£900 for their time and experience - depending on the date, the location, and what's included.

My own pricing is straightforward: £800 for weekend and Bank Holiday ceremonies, and £700 for midweek ceremonies (Monday to Thursday). Both include everything: a fully bespoke script, support with vows and readings, and full planning support before and on the day.

Why Do Celebrant Prices Vary?

Every celebrant works differently. Some write one draft and turn up on the day. Others (like me) spend weeks getting to know you, shaping your story and building something that feels genuinely personal.

Experience, training and ongoing professional development also make a difference. As an accredited Humanists UK celebrant, I invest time each year in continuous learning, from inclusivity training to storytelling and performance techniques.

When couples share their reviews and tell me their ceremony was the best part of the whole day, I know that attention to detail is worth it.

What’s Included When You Book a Professional Celebrant

When you hire a celebrant, you're not just booking someone to read a script. You're booking a writer, a performer and a creative collaborator.

Here's what working with me actually looks like:

  • Getting to know you individually before we start planning, including separate questionnaires so neither of you can sneak a read
  • A relaxed planning meeting, in person at a local pub or café, or online if you're further afield
  • Guidance on vows, readings and symbolic rituals like handfasting
  • A fully bespoke ceremony script, written from scratch around your story
  • Coordination with your venue and suppliers on the day
  • Warm, confident delivery and a keepsake copy of your script to take home

Whether it's a big barn celebration or an intimate elopement in Snowdonia, the ceremony becomes the heartbeat of your day.

Why is Midweek cheaper?

I love what I do, but I also love my weekends. By keeping Saturday bookings limited, I can give every couple the time and attention they deserve and offer a genuinely more affordable option for couples who want a weekday wedding.

Midweek ceremonies get exactly the same process, the same script and the same Kate. The price reflects the day, not the effort.

Is a Celebrant Worth It?

If you’re comparing celebrant costs with a registrar, remember that what you’re paying for isn’t just the legal paperwork. It’s a personalised, story-driven experience that captures who you are as a couple.

A celebrant wedding can take place anywhere – beaches, gardens, woodlands, or mountain tops. It’s entirely yours. Guests often tell me it’s the most memorable part of the day because it feels real.

How to Choose the Right Celebrant

Every wedding has a budget, and price can be an important factor, but this is the only time you're going to have this day and it's worth thinking about which parts of your budget you can scrimp on, and which parts getting the right supplier is really key. Beyond price, look for:

I'm a big advocate for shortlisting celebrants you like the look of, but then carving out the time to get in touch with a couple of different celebrants. You'll get a feel from their communication style whether you might enjoy the process of working together. I always like to kick things off with a relaxed video chat to get to know you and find out about your plans, and to make sure we have that natural chemistry that will make working together a breeze.

About Kate Rostance

I’m Kate Rostance (she/her), a full-time Humanist wedding celebrant based in Conwy, working across North Wales and Cheshire. Since 2021, I’ve had the privilege of leading hundreds of ceremonies – from beach elopements in the Llyn Peninsula to big, joy-filled barn weddings.

I trained with Humanists UK, one of the UK’s most respected organisations for inclusive, non-religious ceremonies, and I mentor new celebrants finding their voice in the industry.

Couples say I'm warm, funny, organised and unflappable. The kind of person who feels like an old friend but runs a ceremony like a pro. They talk about how personal and relaxed their ceremonies felt, how guests said it was nothing like any wedding they'd been to before, and how it set the tone for the happiest day of their lives.

If that sounds like the kind of energy you want for your wedding, I'd love to hear your plans.
