Inclusivity Matters in the Wedding industry

Too many wedding traditions still assume every couple is a bride and groom.

Pinterest boards and Instagram grids rarely represent the diversity of marrying couples today.

I believe your wedding ceremony should feel like home – a safe, affirming space where you’re seen exactly as you are. As an LGBTQ+ inclusive celebrant, I’m committed to tearing up outdated rules and celebrating your story in a way that feels right for you.

I continually strive to improve my allyship, and to embody inclusivity, dedicating time to professional development to ensure I serve every couple with respect and understanding.

I'm a registered member of the Safe Space Alliance, an independent accreditation that reflects my commitment to creating genuinely inclusive spaces for LGBTQ+ people.

Saying vows filled with love on your wedding day

LGBTQ+ couples are very welcome here

I want to make it clear I'm not a celebrant that whacks a rainbow emoji on it and hopes for the best. My aim is to make the experience of working with me as LGBTQ+ affirming as possible.

That's why I make a point of telling LGBTQ+ couples you're welcome here. I use photographs from lots of different types of weddings. My processes, from the very first contact form you fill out never ever assume the marrying couple is a bride and a groom, and I use gender-neutral language throughout.

I dedicate CPD time to learning how to be the best ally I can be, learning from the queer community about their experiences and how to change things for the better.

So whoever you are and whoever you love, I'd be honoured to play a part in your incredible wedding day.

Humanist Ceremonies Celebrate Diversity

As a celebrant accredited by Humanists UK, I'm part of an organization which has been deeply involved in campaigning against discrimination – including LGBTQ+ discrimination, sexism, and racism – for decades, championing gay and lesbian weddings, before they were legally recognized.

...Although it goes without saying that there's still a huge way to go before Trans and Non-Binary couples are treated fairly by the government in this regard.

I'm committed to active allyship, open dialogue, learning and difficult conversations in order for me to be the best celebrant I can for all of the weddings and funerals I deliver.

Inclusivity is for everyone

I'm Kate Rostance, an LGBTQ+ inclusive and queer-affirming wedding celebrant in North Wales — and one of a small number of Humanists UK-accredited celebrants working in the region. I'm committed to providing an inclusive and accessible service for every couple I work with, and for their guests.

As a humanist celebrant, I believe in celebrating people for who they truly are. It’s what makes this work so special. I embrace diversity and welcome every story with warmth and curiosity. I’m not perfect, and I don’t have all the answers, but I’m always learning. My goal is to craft a ceremony that makes everyone feel seen, valued, and part of something truly meaningful.

ABOUT ME

Don't Take My Word For It!

"There are not enough superlatives for how we feel about having Kate as our celebrant. We would give 6 stars if we could.

She completely got ‘us’ from the very start and created the exact ceremony that we wanted - one full of joy and love, with a sprinkling of humour.

Kate ensured that we felt safe and heard throughout the whole process, with the ceremony she created setting the tone for our absolutely magical day."

"Kate instantly put us at ease and we were chatting as if we were old friends.

She relayed our relationship to our guests perfectly, adding humour, sincerity and telling our story, making the ceremony so much more personal and really gave our guests something to enjoy.

Kate is just perfect and we would 100% recommend her for any humanist ceremony, or even just a friend.

We can’t wait to book her again for a vow renewal! "

“We wanted our wedding to be light-hearted and fun, whilst still demonstrating why and how much we love one another.

Kate absolutely delivered.

Our wedding was genuinely one of the best days of our lives and a large part of that was down to the beautiful, intimate and fun ceremony”
