I've been named a Wales Finalist for Wedding Celebrant of the Year at The 2027 Wedding Industry Awards!
I'm absolutely chuffed to bits to share that I've been named a Wales Finalist for Wedding Celebrant of the Year at The 2027 Wedding Industry Awards.
I'm Kate Rostance, and I've been a Humanists UK-accredited celebrant since 2021, leading wedding and elopement ceremonies across North Wales, Eryri, Anglesey, the Llŷn Peninsula and Cheshire. Getting to the finals in the Wales region means so much to me because of who put me there.
The quick version
Award: The 2027 Wedding Industry Awards (TWIA)

Result: Wales Finalist
Celebrant: Kate Rostance
Based in: Conwy, North Wales
Accreditation: Humanists UK, since 2021

How it's judged: votes and feedback from couples whose ceremonies I've led in the last 12 months, reviewed by a panel of industry experts alongside my award submission, website and social media
How finalists are chosen (spoiler: it starts with couples)
What I love about The Wedding Industry Awards is how they're judged. You can't rally your mates or your aunty to vote for you. Only couples whose ceremonies I've led in the last 12 months can vote.
They score their experience and leave feedback, and a panel of industry experts then reviews it, alongside my award submission, my website and my social media, to decide the finalists in each category.
That's why this matters so much to me. My place in the finals starts with the couples who put their faith in me on one of the most important days of their lives.
I totally get how tricky it is for couples. Choosing the right celebrant for you is hard. Unless you've been to one of their ceremonies before, how do you know what it feels like, or how good it is? So to have been through that process with me, to trust me to lead your wedding ceremony, AND to support me by giving your feedback means the world.
What this year's couples said
I'll receive copies of my couples' feedback in January, once the overall winners have been announced. Until then, here's some of what this year's couples have said about working with me.
Adam and Hayley said:
Kate gave us the ceremony we wanted, then made it better than we had vision to imagine.
Emotional, personal and funny - Kate will be a person who we'll remember for the rest of our lives together.
Anyone looking for a celebrant - it's a personal decision. But speak to Kate before you make that decision, she's an excellent professional and advisor on your special day.
Tom and Louise said:
Kate was everything we could have hoped for and more.
From our very first conversation, we knew she was the one. She has such a beautiful, calming energy and from the beginning she genuinely listened to what we wanted and took the time to really get to know us.
Kate's warmth, positivity and presence created such a special atmosphere. We truly couldn't have imagined anyone else marrying us and can't recommend Kate highly enough.
Thank you for giving us a ceremony we'll cherish forever.
So what do I actually do?
I write and lead non-religious Humanist ceremonies built around the couple standing in front of me.
Together we work out what matters to them, and how to create a ceremony that's hands down the best bit of the day. My priority is a couple who feel supported, present and calm, and guests who walk away saying they had no idea a wedding ceremony could be that good.
I'm equally at home leading a ceremony with a mic in hand in front of 150 people as I am halfway up a mountain with just a couple (and maybe a photographer). I love ceremonies with lots of fun stuff and audience participation, but if that's not your bag and you're after something simple and sincere, I've got your back too.
Recent ceremonies have included an intimate woodland wedding for Rich and Sian, a glamorous Soughton Hall ceremony for Ariane and Sam, a destination wedding in the South of France for Jacob and Lucy, and a gorgeous outdoor ceremony for Chloe and Usen at Llyn Gwynant Barns.
The Wales awards night is at the end of November, when the winner in each category will be announced. The competition is fierce, but mostly I'm looking forward to a proper night out with friends from across the industry.
Kate Rostance is a humanist wedding celebrant based in North Wales. She creates ceremonies that are relaxed and full of meaning - with a touch of humour and plenty of heart. She works across North Wales, including Snowdonia, Anglesey, Gwynedd, the Llyn Peninsula, Cheshire and beyond.
