HUMANIST WEDDING CELEBRANT · NORTH WALES & CHESHIRE

Celebrant Weddings to Take Personally

Most couples spend months, sometimes years, planning their wedding day. The perfect venue, the food, the music. Everything that makes your day feel exactly right.

Then they book a registrar to lead them through a twenty-minute standard ceremony that's the same as every other registrar wedding you've ever been to.

There is another way.
Book. A. Celebrant.

As a humanist wedding celebrant, I believe your wedding ceremony should be the absolute highlight of your day, not the formality before the party, but the part your guests will be talking about for years.

I'm Kate. I'm a wedding celebrant based in Conwy, North Wales, and making that happen is what I love to do.

Sound Familiar?

You've been to weddings where the ceremony was a formality that you had to sit through to get to the fun stuff. Where the officiant was dull, or mumbling, or (my personal pet peeve) they got someone's name wrong.

You know you want the opposite of that. You want a ceremony that feels like a celebration. One where your guests are crying happy tears and listening to every word with smiles on their faces. Where you get to be completely present, because everything has been taken care of.

You want the moment you make your promises to feel authentic, honest and totally meaningful, something you look back on for years to come and still get a lump in your throat about.

If that's what you're looking for, you're in exactly the right place.

The Legal Bit

In England and Wales, celebrant weddings aren't yet legally binding on their own, which means you'll need a separate, short appointment at your local register office to make it official. Most couples do this with just them and two witnesses. It costs around £62 + certificates.

The good news: this is changing. The UK Government has confirmed that humanist weddings will become legally recognised in England and Wales following the examples of Scotland in 2005 and Northern Ireland in 2018.

When that happens, a Humanists UK-accredited celebrant like me will be able to marry you properly, in one ceremony, wherever you choose.

Until then, I'm advising my couples that the best way to have the wedding of their dreams is to book a celebrant ceremony, and sign the paperwork in the days before or after.

Here is your permission to rewrite the rules

I'll let you in on a little secret. There's no rulebook that says exactly how your wedding day should look and feel.

Sure, we have traditions, but they don't work for everyone, all the time.

My role as your celebrant is to help you find the traditions that mean something. Which ones to keep, which to scrap entirely, and which to reinvent.

Not sure where to start? Find out more about non-traditional weddings, then get in touch so we can start planning.

This is me

I'm a full-time celebrant based in Conwy, North Wales. I've been a celebrant since 2021, and have led over 250 warm, uplifting and non-traditional ceremonies in that time.

I’ve spent twenty years with the man of my dreams, who makes me laugh and makes a good brew, and knows the secret to a good marriage is keeping his wife well fed.

I’m mum to two massive sons, and two daft orange dogs. I’m learning welsh (badly), can lift heavy weights (whilst pulling weird faces) and my happy place is in the pub with a massive pint in my hands, or exploring the best of what North Wales has to offer.

I'm not the right celebrant for everyone, but if you've made it this far, there's a good chance I'm yours.
